Player Assistance

Player Assistance

BSC is committed to provide the best quality and most comprehensive youth soccer development program that we can. As a result, there is a substantial operating cost to the club to provide the facilities, equipment, referees and coaches to make this a reality. The majority of this cost is covered by the collected player fees, and as such are a necessary reality. We are active in reducing these individual costs through team and club fundraising opportunities, and hope to continue to maintain the affordability of our program to all. We also encourage diversity in our program and hope to attract players from all social and economic backgrounds within our community. It is our fundamental belief, that youth soccer should be about playing and not paying, and as such the club wants to be sure that no one is limited from playing in our competitive soccer program because of the cost. We have never turned away players who have demonstrated need. Currently, it is still the responsibility of the teams to pay the fees associated with those individual families and players that may not be able to afford the fees within their teams. The teams may request relief from the club fees for these players from the club. There are several programs that the club currently provides that can also help mitigate the player fees. They are described below:

Player Assistance Fund

In the future, the club will set aside funds and collect donations for a Player Assistance Fund specifically to provide some relief to player fees. This fund will be used to supplement or support players not qualified, partially covered or not covered at all by the Work for Play program. The club will need to review this on a case-by-case basis and may provide additional funds to the applicants in the form of full or partial scholarships. A Letter of Need should be submitted to the Director of Finance along with the Player Assistance Fund Request From and must include the player’s name, reason for request and the amount of fee reduction being requested. All information provided with regards to this will be kept strictly confidential. Fees can be reduced by a combination of these elements. The club can also suggest a range of possible fundraising options to assist the player, family, and team to support these fees. If anyone is interested in donating to or sponsoring this fund, please contact the Director of Finance. They will accept contributions of any amount into the Fund. Contributions are tax deductible.

Sponsor and request forms are be found in Forms & Downloads.
